Do kitchens go on the second floor. I think the other question you should ask is what that will do to the re sale value of the home. Don t put the laundry too close to sleeping areas. Close to kitchens and washrooms obviously makes sense. Laundry generates significant. You won t likely own this home forever and when you go to sell it you will have a hard time doing so because the general public won t go for having a second floor kitchen.
